When will "Believing" be released on CD? Are Mp3 downloads available?

papa november - Tuesday, July 8th, 2008 4:57 PM PDT
Before I depart this "too, too fragile life," I will hear you perform "Golden Rocket" live...in person. I have missed you twice (Constable Jack's and Freight and Salvage), and I will not err a third time. Your current calendar does not reflect any CA venues. Anything in the works? Truthfully, if you knew how many times over the last thirty-six years I have pulled out "Believing," and "let that Golden Rocket...carry my blues away," you would surely be embarrassed. Here's listening to you, Alice Stuart. (Note. For all of you who still understand the beauty of vinyl, "Believing," FANTASY 9412, should be a valued LP in your collection.)

Wes Finlay - Friday, July 4th, 2008 11:03 AM PDT
Hi Alice . . I sure hope that I get to see you perform again sometime . . great songwriter, guitarist and performer . .

Jan Wade - Monday, June 16th, 2008 9:11 PM PDT
Hi Alice,

My wife and I really enjoyed your set at the Edmonds Art Festival this past Saturday. The whole band was into it and tight. Your playing is like a master class in blues. Simple yet tastefully crafted. Someone said it doesn't matter how many notes you play, it matters when and how you play them. It's so great to hear a master at work.

We are going to try and make it to Ellensburg to hear your band and the rest of the show.

Jan and Moon Wade

Alice,

Fantastic interview in Flatpicking Guitar Magazine. And inspiring playing with Brad Davis on youtube.com. I am looking for instructional materials on playing the blues on an acoustic guitar with a flatpick. I loved Brad Davis' book. Any suggestions or advice?

You are the best! I love that you have so much fun and really communicate so much emotion when you play. Thank you!

Hi Alice,
small world, I got an email from Roger in KC who'd gotten an email from Marv in Winlock. Marv said you'd showed up in Winlock on your bike. Roger said he thought of me when he read that. Two years ago I signed up for Steve Kaufman's camp and didn't buy a plane ticket. Sent the guitar FedEx, hopped on one of the bikes, and made it from Tumwater to Nashville in 4 days. Nice to know there's another chick out there who rides with a guitar!
take care,
cj

Hello Alice, Just read your Flatpicking Guitar Magazine article with great interest and listened to your tune on the CD. WOW!! I look forward to meeting you someday. I am a bluegrass style mandolin picker. I played country in the 80's-90's and had a songwriting partner, Kin Vassy who also played awhile with Frank Zappa. Just wondering if you knew Kin? Annie

Alice! Just gotta thank you for your gig at the '99 last Sunday. It was a pleasure to have your band as well as the others use Rex's drums and my bass rig - I told your bassman that he infused some fantastic karma into it. Thanks for sitting in with us, you add a dimension we've not had, and what an awesome dimension it is! When can we open for you again? Lets do the Tractor or the Triple Door!
Hope to play with you guys again soon! We all had a wonderful time!

Peace - n - music

Hey Alice,

It's nice to see your web presence...we know each other back in the early Berkeley Jabberwock days...I played with Country Joe and the Fish in '69-'70. I have a question for you. The version you did of "Follow Me Honey, I'll Turn Your Money Green" is very similar to the version my first folk group did in college...the guitar lick is th same. Where did you learn the song?

Thanks!

Mark

It means so much to me to see you out there; you are where I want to be! I stayed home for 15 years to raise my boys and I am so energized with playing again I could burst!A gig at the local rock and roll bar feels like Carnegie Hall...I mean that.
You inspire me Alice, thank you from the heart. I know I can do it when I think of you.

I was at a party last night and a lady mentioned 'Alice Stuart'. I said, "Would you say that again please, s-l-o-w-l-y. please?" When I heard it was you (not AL!) I nearly went into shock & told her how I used to live in the houdseboats in Sausalito, CA (72, 73) and went to see you every time you played the No Name Bar. I used to have FT Woman & Dreamin (on 33) and still have them on R to R. I have always wondered where you were and wouldn't you know it? Here you are lurking around in cyberspace! It turns out she's your neighbor, also plays and told me about your site. The girl I'm with now also went to the NNB back then but we didn't know each other. I think the world is getting smaller every day. Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and I'll be ordering soon! I am so happy to find you again. What a rush !!!

I once had a good friend who had your LPs Full Time Woman and Believing. She let me borrow them to tape. She was gorgeous, and we had a short fling.
Your music will always remind me of her, and that all too brief time we spent together. Thank you for your sweet music.

Hi Alice,
I was looking for a version of Frankie and Johnee, something fast with energy to do live and I came across yours. Even though I'm doing something different, I love your music and writing. And playing for sure. I just did sound on a stage at FloydFest in Virginia and there was a women there who lives out in the wood w/o electricity. She had this old Guild guitar. Wow, she could really play it and sing too. She reminded me of you.
Much Peace and Kindness.

Alice,

It's already been a a few months , but your CD release concert at the "Triple Door" was awesome. My friend is a fan of yours now.
Your calender lists July 13th as a Saturday , playing at the New Orleans Jazz/Blues Bar, but is it a typo ??? Are you playing on Friday the 13th?
Just want to make sure -
My friend wants to bring her friend, who aspires to be a singer song writer.

The guitar solo grabbed me immediately, both for the notes chosen and the tone. I've ordered the live album, but tell me was that you playing that solo and what guitar and amp was used?

I really enjoyed your set last night. I was part of one of the earlier acts (Claes & Rollie) and was hopeful of advancing to the finals, but I wouldn't have felt the judging was fair if we had advanced in your place, although I thought we put in a very good set.

I wish you the best in the next round and I am confident that you will be selected to go on to Memphis.

By the way, we played together once at The Crystal Ballroom for Nick Ogilvie's memorial. I was a part of the Eagle Ridin' Papas with Johnnie Ward at that time.

Best of Luck,

Either way I only have to say that you and your band absolutely ROCKED! It's been a long time since I've heard or seen an act that was as good as you were! In a short period of time, I plan on making a purchase! Thanks again for showing me that music can still be fresh!

Just wanted to let you know that you have traveled to China with me. While I'm living here for the next year and teaching English I'll be listening to Crazy with the Blues alot. It's one the four CD's I packed in my already overfull suitcase for pleasure listening. Thanks for producing such great music to enjoy worldwide! Carmen

Alice,
I was telling Kirchen I saw you at the Freight and I guess he got tired of me raving about it, he said, "Send her a note." I got tired of waitin around for him to send me your address, so here I am at this web site thing, hoping you don't let this loose on the web page.

Anyway, I wandered in for the last half of the last set, towing 3 women who wanted to find out if you'd remember me after only 30 years. No surprise that the two roughly my age loved your stuff, but the third is an engineer, Google intern, a little too young to be my daughter, and she got it completely when I said Keith Richard has fallen out of a tree trying to be as hip as you. Which I'm glad you cleared up because I thought he was still just trying to be Blackie Farrell, who fell off his roof this spring.

So even if you can't remember the Crabs, I hope we can keep in better touch 'cuz I'm nuts about the way you're playing and singing.

Alice! I was fooling around with some freebie program that looks at sites that link to mine, and found Guitar Friday and was very impressed! But when I followed the link to alicestuart.com, I was thrilled! I just wish we lived in the same town so we could play some! Love your music! All the best to you and your wonderful band!

Had never heard Alice until a local radio station (KVMR Nevada City, CA) played cuts from Triple Door... wow! With so many blues players doin' the same thing, it's so refreshing to hear someone who personalizes blues material to the extent that Alice does. It makes a huge difference in the "aliveness" and impact and soulfullness of the music! What a great discovery! Looking forward to checking her out live!

Alice I took my eye off the ball, and was unaware you had new product out. I have emailed our office to contact your record company to send us a promo. I recently in an interview told Robin Rogers she sounded like you; she imediately went out & bought a compilation with you on it, liked what she heard & thanked me for putting her on to you. Love the website sneakers. Take care, Billy Hutchinson Team Writer "Blues Matters" magazine UK www.bluesmatters.com

Heard 'I'm Goin to New York City' off your new Live CD on XM Radio Bluesville. Really like the hook and was looking to purchase the song for download. Any chance you will offer this capability via your website in the future?

Thanks!

Hi Alice, i just wanted to tell you we loved your recent show at the Triple Door in Seattle. I walk and exercise to your music, I just think you are AWESOME looking forward to another C.D. I have to say also that your rendition of the Johnny Cash song was so great. Thanks again, Melody
